Story:
Originally commissioned as a tutor for a wealthy couple's daughter, Archimedes was essentially the only form of education the child had. He is considered a very intelligent Grem (by scientists' standards) and was not only a mentor but a good friend for the child. As the child grew older and entered her teen years, the parents sent her off to a boarding school and thus Archimedes was no longer of use. Having made a false story of the daughter needing another lesson in the public library, the family packed up their possessions and moved, leaving Archimedes behind. He now works in the same public library he was 'abadonded' at and is it's sole proprietor and keeper. Mostly alone all the time (spare for the companionship of his bird, Poe), Archimedes waits for the day for 'his little girl' to return for a lesson to learn. 
If anyone walks into his library, he secretly gets extremely excited (yet is very good at hiding it). He'll follow you throughout the library to see if he could help you find that certain book you're looking for.

About the Spectacles: Arc doesn't necessarily need glasses, but they were a gift from his "Little Miss" back when he would teach and read to her. He hardly ever takes them off. They are attached to his left gauge by two thin leather strips; the glasses would hang from his ear should they ever fall from his nose.

About Poe: Archimedes found Poe as an injured hatchling after he fell out of a nest just outside of Arc's library. Unable to reach the nest himself, Arc took Poe in and raised him (having already read up on numerous articles of bird and raven rehabilitation). Having imprinted on Archimedes, Poe is always at his side. He can speak a few words due to Archimedes speaking to him constantly and teaching him some phrases.
Poe is currently Arc's only (and closest) companion.

About the Watch: A gift from his previous owners. While still gravely hurt at their abandoning of him at the library, Arc still carries the watch in hopes that one day they will return. It's quiet tick is comforting to him in such a quiet space. It's an antique and he constantly takes care of it to make sure it doesn't stop or tarnish.
